These originally designed earrings feature cascading waves of koru spirals. Each earring is made of four hand-formed sterling pieces woven together with multiple feet of fine gauge sterling wire, and finished with a faceted turquoise bead. Earrings are oxidized and polished to bring out the pattern detail of the wire wrap.
In Maori designs, the spiral, or koru, is representative of an unfurling silver fern frond, and it symbolizes rebirth or awakening, and peace. Turquoise is one of the most widely known shamanic healing stones, used by Tibetan, Egyptian and Native American healers for protection, friendship and harmony.
